About the FNTA agreement
The Centre, the Nagaland government and the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) signed the agreement to create the FNTA in New Delhi in February 2026, in the presence of Home Minister Amit Shah and CM Rio. ENPO is the apex body of eight recognised Naga tribes of the six eastern districts. The deal provides a mini-Secretariat headed by an Additional Chief Secretary or Principal Secretary, and a share of the development outlay for Eastern Nagaland based on population and area. It does not affect Article 371A.
