DRDO Tests Military Combat Parachute System at 32,000 Feet
Why in the news
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) tested its indigenously built Military Combat Parachute System (MCPS) on 17 October 2025 from a record height of 32,000 feet.
Key facts

About DRDO
DRDO is the research arm of the defence establishment and develops technology for the armed forces. The MCPS supports defence self-reliance by reducing dependence on imported aerial delivery equipment and allowing faster maintenance in emergencies.
Exam angle
- Remember the NavIC link and the 25,000 feet capability.
- Note the two labs: ADRDE (Agra) and DEBEL (Bengaluru).
- Fits the self-reliance (Atmanirbharta) theme in defence.
