  • The Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme is a ₹62,500 crore, five-year scheme of MeitY running through 2030-31.
  • The Union Cabinet approved it on 15 July 2026, and MeitY notified it in August 2026.
  • It follows the PLI scheme for Large Scale Electronics Manufacturing, which operated between 2020 and 2025-26.
  • It stresses domestic value addition and gives special support to Indian-owned brands, design and R&D.
