The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) started the Sanchar Mitra Scheme to turn young people into community champions for telecom awareness and safe digital use.
Key facts
- Open to students of registered, participating technical institutes in telecom, electronics, computer science, cybersecurity or related fields.
- Goal: a nationwide network of trained Sanchar Mitras running awareness drives on telecom services, mobile security and prevention of telecom fraud.
- Rollout is under way, with LSAs (Licensed Service Areas) coordinating with institutes.
