About Intervision
The original Intervision Song Contest ran from 1965 to 1980 for Eastern Bloc countries. President Putin ordered its revival in February 2025 as an alternative to Eurovision, after Russia was excluded from Eurovision in 2022 following the invasion of Ukraine.
Exam angle
- Winner and runner-up are common questions: Vietnam first, Kyrgyzstan second.
- Remember the host country, Russia, and the founding years 1965-1980.
- Treat it as an international affairs and culture item, not a sports one.
