In November 2025 the Union Agriculture Ministry finalised how losses from wild animal attacks and paddy inundation will be paid under PMFBY, answering a long-standing farmer demand.

States with severe human-wildlife conflict, such as Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and the north-eastern states.
