Bangladesh voted in a general election on 12 February 2026, with a referendum on the July Charter held alongside. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) emerged with a commanding majority, ending the interim period that began in August 2024.

About Bangladesh’s Parliament
The Jatiya Sangsad has 350 seats: 300 directly elected and 50 reserved for women. Muhammad Yunus had headed the interim government since August 2024. The Awami League has been banned under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2009, following an interim government decision in April 2025.
