1. West Bengal Public Safety Bill 2026: Status and Concerns

In June 2026 the Assembly cleared West Bengal Public Safety and Control of Anti-Social Activities Bill, 2026.
Reports claimed the President sent it back, since the Centre feared clashes with two narcotics laws: NDPS Act, 1985 and PITNDPS Act, 1988.
A conflicting statement said it was still with the Union Home Ministry, so its status is unclear.
