The Centre fixed 1 October 2026 as the start date of the new Act.
Key facts
- Replaces the 1891 Act.
- Purpose: let certified bank records stand as prima facie evidence without producing original physical registers.
- Aims: a format-agnostic regime, quicker dispute settlement, easier business.
