PM Vishwakarma Scheme Completes Three Years with 30 Lakh Registrations
Why in the news
The artisan support scheme turned three on 17 September 2026 with 30 lakh registrations. The Ministry of MSME held the event in Kolkata, West Bengal.
Key facts
- Started: 17 September 2023, on Vishwakarma Jayanti.
- Type: Central Sector Scheme, wholly financed by the Centre.
- Implemented jointly by MoMSME, MSDE and DFS.
- Who can join: artisans aged 18 and above in an unorganised, self-employed capacity in one of the 18 trades.
- Registration: via Common Service Centres, then three-tier verification.

Three pillars
- Samman (respect): formal identity through certificates and digital cards.

- Samriddhi (prosperity): concessional loans, toolkits at the doorstep, cashbacks and market links, preserving the Guru-Shishya parampara.
Exam angle
- Outlay: ₹13,000 crore. Trades include carpenter, goldsmith, potter, mason, barber and tailor.
