About a Preferential Trade Agreement
A PTA lowers duties on a chosen list of products rather than on almost all trade, so it is narrower than a full free trade agreement. The release says the pact aims to use the complementary strengths of the two economies, raise bilateral trade and investment, and build more diversified supply chains. Mexico is seen as a valuable market for Indian exporters because of its deep links with global value chains.
Exam angle

- Seven ToR areas include SPS, TBT, rules of origin and trade remedies.
