|---|---|
| ILDC | Interest, lease and dividend income |
| SC (Services) | Fee and commission income and expenses |
| FC (Financial) | Net profit or loss on trading and banking books |
About the operational risk approach
Under the SA, capital depends on the size of a bank’s business (via the BI) and its own loss history through the Internal Loss Multiplier (ILM). The Loss Component is set at 15 times average annual operational risk losses, net of recoveries. Banks should use 10 years of good-quality loss data; a bank newly subject to the ILM without that history may use five years or more.

- Know the three BI components: ILDC, SC and FC.
