CAQM mandates PTZ cameras at NCR industrial units
Why in the news
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on 6 October 2026 ordered industries in the National Capital Region to add Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras to monitor fuel use.
Key facts
- Locations: every fuel storage area and fuel charging point, and gas gauges or meters where gas is used.
- Cameras are also expected at points such as OCEMS port-holes, emission stacks, fume extraction areas and furnace feeding zones.
- Live streaming: feeds go to servers of the CPCB and the State Pollution Control Boards or the DPCC.
- Deadline: installation by 31 October 2026; implementation status due to CAQM by 1 November 2026.
- Reason: inspections kept finding units burning unauthorised fuels.
