PMGSY-IV review: 62,000 km target, 20,000 km already approved
Why in the news
Union Minister of Rural Development and Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on 5 October 2026, and asked for quality work completed on time.

- Focus areas: drainage, culverts, local terrain, planning before tenders to cut bid and cancellation delays, and coordination with District Collectors and the environment department for clearances.

About PMGSY
PMGSY is the Centre’s rural road connectivity programme run by the Ministry of Rural Development. The minister said the aim now is quality connectivity rather than routine road building.
