White Revolution 2.0: Amit Shah at Bhopal cattle-rearers’ meet
Why in the news
On 3 October 2026, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah addressed a Gopalak Sammelan (cattle-rearers’ conference) at Dussehra Maidan, Bhopal, and launched several dairy projects in Madhya Pradesh.
Key facts
- White Revolution 2.0: aims to set up 75,000 new cooperative dairies and strengthen 46,000 existing ones.
- Milk production: up from 14.06 crore tonnes in 2014-15 to 24.80 crore tonnes; India is the world’s largest milk producer.
- Per capita availability: rose from 307 grams to 485 grams a day, a 58% rise.
- Madhya Pradesh target: raise daily milk collection from 12 lakh litres to 52 lakh litres.
- 50 acres approved in the state for breed improvement work.

About cooperative dairying
Shah linked the push to the Prime Minister’s vision of prosperity through cooperation, arguing that cooperative dairies give cattle-rearers fair prices along with the gains from processing and value addition. Shah holds the Cooperation portfolio along with Home Affairs.
