RBI Citizen’s Charter: 99.9% of applications cleared on time in Sept
Why in the news
On 2 October 2026 the Reserve Bank of India published the status of applications handled under its Citizen’s Charter for September 2026, reporting that 99.9% were disposed of within the prescribed timelines.
Key facts
- Opening balance: 3,011 applications were pending at the start of the month.
- Received: 17,200 new applications; 701 were sent back to applicants for more information.
- Processed: 16,844 applications, 99.9% within timelines.
- Pending on 30 September: 2,666, of which 2,646 (99.2%) were still within their timelines.
- Charter revision: one Financial Markets service added, the timeline of another Financial Markets service changed, and eight Foreign Exchange Management services removed because powers were delegated to Authorised Dealers. Total services now: 206.

PRAVAAH (Platform for Regulatory Application, VAlidation and AutHorisation) is RBI’s single online portal for seeking regulatory approvals. It was launched on 28 May 2024 by the then Governor Shaktikanta Das with 60 application forms. Applicants can file, track progress, answer RBI queries and receive decisions within fixed timelines.
