About PM-AASHA

The Price Support Scheme is a part of PM-AASHA (Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay SanraksHan Abhiyan), set up in September 2018. It covers pulses, oilseeds and copra. Under PSS, central agencies such as NAFED and NCCF buy notified crops directly at MSP. The other components are the Price Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS), the Private Procurement and Stockist Scheme (PPSS) and a Price Stabilization Fund.

Exam angle

  • PSS means physical procurement at MSP; PDPS pays the price gap instead.
  • Tur accounts for most of the quantity approved, all in Uttar Pradesh.
  • Link with self-reliance in pulses and edible oils.
