10. SEBI Defers Optional T+0 Settlement Deadline to Nov 2025

  • SEBI extended the optional T+0 implementation deadline for qualified stock brokers to November 1, 2025 from May 1, 2025.
  • The extension followed feedback from QSBs and consultations with exchanges, clearing corporations and depositories.
  • India became the first country to adopt T+1 for all listed stocks, on January 27, 2023.
  • Optional T+0 began on March 28, 2024 for 25 scrips, with a plan to extend it to the top 500 stocks.

13. Airtel Payments Bank RuPay ON-THE-GO NCMC Card

  • Airtel Payments Bank introduced the RuPay ON-THE-GO card with the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) feature.
  • NCMC allows contactless payments for metro, bus, suburban rail, toll, parking and retail on one card.
  • The card uses 99% recycled plastic and an EMV chip, and offers e-commerce benefits up to ₹15,000.
  • Validity is up to five years from issue.

17. India-Canada Reset: Nuclear Pact, CEPA Push and Key Challenges

  • India and Canada signed a civil nuclear agreement and recommitted to concluding a CEPA after Modi-Carney talks.
  • In 2024 India was Canada's 7th largest trading partner, with bilateral trade of USD 30.9 billion.
  • CEPA aims to lift bilateral trade to USD 50 billion by 2030.
  • Canada supplies about 25% of India's Muriate of Potash; over 1.8 million people of Indian origin live there.

18. India on USTR 2025 Priority Watch List for IP Concerns

  • India was again placed on the US Trade Representative's 2025 Priority Watch List over IP protection and enforcement.
  • Concerns include inconsistent enforcement, patent law interpretation, signal theft, file sharing and trade secrets.

25. Bay of Bengal Productivity and Monsoon: Nature Geoscience Study

  • A Nature Geoscience study traced Indian Summer Monsoon changes over 22,000 years and their effect on Bay of Bengal marine productivity.
  • Both strong and weak monsoons disrupt ocean mixing, cutting surface food for marine life by about 50%.
  • The Bay covers under 1% of ocean area but yields nearly 8% of global fishery production.
  • Human-caused warming may disrupt the monsoon, threatening fish stocks and coastal food security.
